The South African Republic is the state at the southern tip of the continent, and it is one of the most developed countries in Africa. Its flag is very symbolical - the central "Y" represents the striving for unity of the nation, the same like two branches are uniting in this shape. The red, white and blue colours were taken from the flag of the Boer Republic, and the yellow, black and green colours from the African National Congress flag.
