The patch flag that refers to the rich and difficult history of South Africa - it's an interesting version because it is the only former flag in the world that contains a total of five flags (Netherlands, England, Scotland, the Anglo-Irish nation, Prinsenvlag) in three flags for one flag.
The largest of the flags, which includes the others, is Prinsenvlag - apolitical, because it is a version of the Dutch flag used in the 16th century. In the middle of them, in a strictly defined arrangement so that each of them is equal in terms of importance, three historical flags are placed: on the right the Republic of Transvaal (three horizontal stripes of red, white and blue with one vertical green stripe), in the middle the Orange Free State (four white and three orange stripes with a small Dutch flag in the corner) and the British Union Jack on the left).
After the fall of apartheid, there was a lot of conversion around this flag, to such an extent that since 2019, it has been legally banned from showing and wearing it in public because it is considered offensive and has racist connotations (a symbol of apartheid and white supremacy). Currently, the flag can only be used worldwide for artistic, journalistic, scientific and historical purposes (e.g. museums).
