An island country located in Oceania, formerly known as the New Hebrides. The Republic of Vanuatu consists of 83 islands, of which only 65 are inhabited and two belong to New Caledonia (Matthew and Hunter), a French overseas territory.
The Vanuatian flag is divided into three parts:
- red upper band - a symbol of the spilled blood of men and bulls that are ritually killed there
- a yellow-black line arranged in the letter Y - the shape of an archipelago of 83 islands
- green lower belt - the natural wealth of the islands
- yellow, crossed date palm leaves placed in a boar stick on a black triangle on the left - the leaves are a sign of peace and the tusk means abundance
