The youngest federal state of Austria, located in its eastern part, with its seat in Eisenstadt. The terrain is lowland, most of the country is covered with steppe.
The patch shows a shield-shaped coat of arms consisting of a yellow field and a red eagle sitting on a rock. There is a shield in the Austrian national colors on the bird's chest, and two black crosses above the tips of the wings. The coat of arms reflects the symbols of the two most important noble families in this region, Counts Guessing-Bernstein and Mattersdorf-Forchtenstein. The pattern is also approved for official use in a black and white version.
