By examining the skeletons of various organisms, plant leaves or imprinted traces/tracks in rocks, paleontologists collect data, which they then verify, and based on this information, we, ordinary people, can find out when and where a given creature could have lived, what it ate, and what conditions prevailed then. atmospheric conditions, etc. It is primarily field work, but you must have very broad knowledge of biology, chemistry, geography, history and more demanding sciences such as paleozoology, micropaleontology, paleobotany and taphonomy. It is an exciting journey into the past that may turn out to be an incredible success: for example, the discovery of a previously unknown species or new insights into the changes that have been taking place on our planet for millions of years.
