Patch of a traditional Kokeshi doll originating from Japan. This hand-carved and painted wooden figurine is an amulet, among others. love and friendship. It is customarily given as a gift expressing wishes for harmony, happiness and health, ensuring the favor of the gods. The first figurines appeared in the Land of the Rising Sun at the end of the 19th century and quickly became a popular symbol and souvenir from Japan. The classic version of the doll is a simple, slightly cylindrical torso without arms or legs in a subdued kimono, with delicate make-up on the face and in various hairstyles with or without decorations in the hair.
If you like this style, the Japanese Kokeshi doll also has an older sister in a larger size and with a different kimono.
