The patch depicting a plant belonging to the cactus family - prickly pear, of which there are currently about 150 species known in the world. Their native places are North and South America, the most famous variety, the prickly pear, comes from Mexico. The plant has a unique charm for two reasons: characteristic waxy leaves with tiny thorns and beautiful flowers that over time transform into fruits used in cooking, pharmacology, cosmetology and herbal medicine. Prickly pear flowers consist of many pink or yellow petals, and the round and slightly elongated fruits are usually intense red or purple in color. This plant, as a typical succulent, is resistant to difficult weather and soil conditions and can reach heights of up to 5-6 meters. Prickly pear can also be grown as a potted plant, remember that it likes very sunny positions and is a thermophilic species, so it must be kept under a roof in winter.

Prickly pear leaf extract is used as an ingredient in weight loss supplements because the substances contained in them allow the absorption of fat from food in the human body. The fruit is rich in fiber, a source of vitamins C and B and has strong moisturizing properties, which is why it is widely used in the production of cosmetics and helps in the healing of wounds/scars and skin regeneration. Prickly pear seed oil used to fight wrinkles is considered one of the most expensive natural cosmetics in the world, because over a million seeds are used to produce 1 liter of oil, which corresponds to about half a ton of fruit.

In Israel, the prickly pear is considered a national symbol, called sabra (a prickly desert plant) and refers to the designation of representatives of the generation of "new Jews" born in Israel, as well as the children of Palestinian settlers who lived in these areas before the establishment of this state.
